We're like vanilla ice cream, but think like Conniseur or Gelatomessina. We love the simple things in life and thrive on structure, however we do have slightly more expensive taste and will take the time to ensure we get it right (with all things in life). Vanilla may be boring to some, but a well done vanilla, to us, trumps all the over saturated triple-choc caramel popcorn brownie fudge sundays.

How would you describe your personalities?

Maciej is known to be a joker. When you first meet him he is a little reserved but kind, but once he comes out of his shell he is such a crack up. Maciej is very dedicated to his work and loves and organised household. His cleaning skills are out of this world and he does have slightly expensive taste.
Maciej's sense of humour can be a little crass at times, he loves an awkward moment (big lover of awkward comedy/ movies e.g. The Inbetweeners and Mr Bean. Maciej is a Pieces, however isn't a firm believer in horoscopes or anything that struggles to be measured.
Jacqui on the other hand strongly relates to her Scorpio star sign. Jacqui is a very empathetic and emotion person who can be perceived as incredibly passionate. She is a creative at heart who works part time as a makeup artist in retail and part time as a free lance visual artist (think paintings and drawings). She is independent but could not function without Maciej who balances her out.
Jacqui can be best described and an introverted extrovert whereas Maciej is better described as a true introvert.

How & when did you meet?

Back in 2013 Maciej and Jacqui met at a party through different friendship groups. Back then Maciej was really leaning into his Slavic look with a blue adidas hoodie, matching ring, chain and bracelet and a #1 buss cut all over. Jacqui was dressed in a aqua mini dress, cat ears, bleach blonde hair and some of the poorest makeup she's ever seen. After sharing stories and pictures of their dogs, they kept in contact via text and Jacqui eventually made the trip (yes, it was a trip. 45 minutes from her house at the time - this is in Canberra so that's a lot haha) to visit Maciej and his family. Once she met his family, it was all over, she knew she found home. Coming from a family with Australia and Chilean Heritage, she felt she already knew and understood Maciej's family. Maciej, being a car nut, instantly clicked with Jacqui's dad and now the two are inseparable when they visit.

Tell us about the proposal!

Maciej would have proposed earlier if Jacqui hadn't been adamant she didn't want to be engaged until 25 (key eyeroll).
After Jacqui's 25th birthday (2019), Maciej was sent on an overseas trip for work. While he was travelling he found the perfect ring. Over three days he visited the jeweller until he cracked and bought it. As Maciej's trip was coming to a close, so were the boarders. Maciej made it home with 1 hour to spare before being locked out of the country. There went the weekend getaway plans. Maciej had booked a weekend cottage stay in northern NSW where he planned on proposing.
6 weeks after he had planned on popping the question he had had enough. That Sunday he planned on going for a rainforest hike with Jacqui where he would pop the question. Jacqui was none the wiser and took her time getting ready, going as far as bleaching her bangs before they left. They drove to Mt Glorious where the location Maciej had picked was closed for renovations. Maciej became a little irritated as Jacqui laughed telling him to chill out. Eventually they parked and went for a walk along a river bed. As they were crossing Maciej called out Jacqui's name. As she turned around he was on one knee, however Jacqui had thought he had fallen and gotten stuck so she tried pulling him out. He resisted and pulled out a ring, the rest is history :)

What do you both do for work?

Maciej works for a technical security company. Maciej's role is ever changing and he has found himself a jack of all trades (quite literally). His work has him travelling quite a lot, both interstate and overseas.
Jacqui works two jobs, one as a freelance artist and a second for Mecca as a makeup artist.

What did you choose Rainforest Gardens as your wedding venue?

Jacqui had always dreamed of getting married in a rainforest near a body of water. After scoping out the Daintree Eco Lodge, Maciej and Jacqui decided they wanted to look for something closer to home. Jacqui's sister Sammii sent through the Rainforest Gardens Instagram, after seeing if on someone's page. Once they visited Rainforest Gardens they knew this was exactly what they were looking for. The added benefit of some accommodation on site and the reception on site as well made the deciding factor and took the stress out of a lot of the planning.
